Professor Hospitality/Restaurant Management

Hi I'm Professor Inglis.

Originally from Manhattan but grew up in Westfield, New Jersey 26 miles outside the city.

Started at Paul Smiths College, upstate New York, two-year degree in Hospitality Management, graduated 1980. Worked during the 1980 Winter Olympics in the Olympic Village, Lake Placid N.Y. as a line cook, interacted with all the athletes and personally cooked to order their breakfast and lunch items. Was able to attend the “Miracle on Ice”, the famous hockey game USA vs. Russia, still have my ticket stub.

Attended Florida International University, Miami, B.A. in Hospitality Management graduated 1982.

Attended Webster University M.A. in Management graduated 1997.

Spent over 20 years with Hilton and Hyatt Corporation in the room’s division department, as a Front Office Manager, Director of Housekeeping Operations, and Property Manager over the Front Office, HSKP’ing, Security, and Uniformed Services, including Valet.

Started at Valencia fall 1999, as a full-time faculty member, the only one. Became Program Chair in Fall 2000 for Hospitality and Tourism/Restaurant Management.

Now we are the largest two-year hospitality program in the nation. Our relationship with the Walt Disney World Corporation, and our new downtown facility will propel us into the future of hospitality education. The state-of-the-art facilities and our central location in downtown Orlando position us for future growth and prosperity.

Our faculty come from some of the finest and largest hotel, restaurant, and theme park operations in the nation, with real hands on learning, mixed mode and on-line class options make it easily accessible to the general population.
