Jill Michelle Sebacher
Professor of English
Jill Michelle Sebacher (she/her) graduated from the University of Central Florida with her BA in English in 1999 and MA in English in 2001, having been awarded UCF’s Undergraduate to Graduate Fellowship. During her tenure at the college, she completed the Burnett Honors College’s Honors in the Major program, published multiple works in The Cypress Dome, became a member of Sigma Tau Delta and worked as an assistant editor for The Florida Review.
Currently, she works as a professor of English at Valencia College, where she has been privileged to teach writing and literature since 2000 and from 2003-7 served as faculty advisor for Phoenix, West Campus’ student-run literary magazine. She hosts Meet the Muse and Sub Club, a series of generative creative writing workshops/submission meet-ups, held throughout the school year for current Valencia students, alumni and faculty/staff, and manages the social media pages for Valencia’s West Campus Communications Division.
Under the byline Jill Michelle, she is the author of Underwater (Riot in Your Throat, 2025) and Shuffle Play (Bottlecap, 2024) and winner of the 2023 NORward Prize for Poetry.
