Nelson Rafael Placa Casiano, EdD

I'm Professor Nelson Rafael Placa. Yes, my brother is Professor Nelson Manuel Placa. No, we are not twins, but we share the same name. I am a professor in the Educator Preparation Institute and the Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Organizational Leadership programs. If you are in the hospitality field, you'll have my brother as your professor.

I like to start with this story because my brother receives all of my students' emails, and I receive all of his students' emails. To help you succeed in my class, please be sure to send emails to the correct Nelson.

Let me tell you a bit about my professional journey! I have worked in education for 29 years. During this time, I have served as a bilingual teacher, administrative dean, assistant principal, adjunct professor, and am currently the Director of Continuing International Education at Valencia College. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Bilingual-Bicultural Education from Western Illinois University. I completed my Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, my Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Barry University, and my Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
