Dr. Nicole Boucher Spottke

Professor of English

Education and Professional Experience

I am a graduate of the State University of New York College at New Paltz with a BA and an MA in literature and the University of South Florida, Tampa with a PhD in literature. I also have a certificate in instructional design from Seminole State College.

Teaching Duties

I teach online, mixed-mode, and traditional courses at Valencia College (VC)--ENC 0027, ENC 1101, and ENC 1102, and LIT 1000: Introduction to Literature.

I also teach professional development courses for Valencia instructors.

MyTeaching Philosophy, Briefly

My teaching philosophy is that diversity enhances learning. We are all of different races, nationalities, genders, sexual preferences, socio-economic backgrounds, and more. And because we have diverse experiences, learning occurs as we discuss our differences in relation to literature, writing, and life in general.

Outside Interests

I love reading, traveling, writing, and most recently, making pottery.

I wrote a blog that began in London over the summer 2016. Read about it and more recent adventures here:

To help out with the short-staffed writing center, I will be in Building 5, Room 155, The Writing Center. You can make an appointment through the Tutoring link in our Canvas course menu to meet with me during the following times:
