Wanda Stanek

Professor of Nursing

I have been in the field of nursing for over 25 years. I began my nursing career as an LPN and completed the Valencia "Transition Program" to obtain my RN degree. I spent most of my nursing career at Florida Hospital where I started out on a Medical Telemetry Unit as an LPN, attended Florida Hospital's Critical Care Nurse Internship Program after obtaining my RN working in the Multisystem PCU and then transitioning to CVICU. During my 20+ years at Florida Hospital I held positions as Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, Education Specialist, and Assistant Director of Nursing Education. During this time I also returned to school for my BSN and MSN degrees from Florida Southern College in Lakeland.
I love nursing and I love to teach. So it was just a natural progression to return to Valencia to teach nursing. The icing on my teaching cake is that I have the privilege of teaching the Advance Standing Track. Doing so brings me back to my roots and allows me to give back to the profession that has given me so much.
I am married. I have one son and one grand-daughter. During school breaks you will find me in Maine where my son was transferred. In my spare time, I like to make and decorate cakes. I create 3D sculpted cakes as well as basic decorated cakes.
